The Tiny Closet Collection... Here's Hoping!

Wow.

The incredibly positive feedback I've been getting from the handmade pieces I've been incorporating into my Tiny Closet has been amazing to receive.

Thank you.

I started designing and sewing clothing because, while blogging about my adventures in having a small wardrobe, I was growing a more discerning eye for quality and style and I just began being a lot choosier with the clothing I would wear.  I realized the clothes that I truly loved were considerably beyond what I could afford and frankly, waaaaaay overpriced to begin with anyway, so I began making the things I saw but couldn't/wouldn't buy.

For the past two years, I've been loving sewing everyday, tweaking designs I see in store windows and even creating my own designs.  It's become quite a passion actually.
So a few weeks ago, after discovering the meaning of life over Cheerios, I realized life is too short and valuable to not do what you love to do.
So I went down to city hall and and got a little present for my Tiny Closet:

a business license
yay!

The Tiny Closet is now a licensed business - as a special promise to myself to keep sewing and designing, and working towards one day being able to see my creations in
someone else's Tiny Closet.  That would be a dream come true.

As I am working on a clothing line to sell, I am testing out each piece right here on my blog.  Seeing if you like them, testing how they fit, and also testing out how they go with my daily style and wardrobe.  The question of exactly when the line will be available is still to be determined but I do know I have never wanted anything more.

Your encouragement and feedback while I continue testing out new clothing is amazingly helpful so
*thankyouthankyouthankyou*
for visiting, commenting and emailing.

I so hope you'll continue to stick with me because
I am so excited for what's in store...

  1. Congratulations!! I adore your blog and your personality and, of course, your sense of style! This is a wonderful gift to yourself and I wish you nothing but all the joy and success :) I, too, just registered my business in custom chair upholstery after discovering the meaning of life. But I think my epiphany was over a bowl of kale soup :)

    All the best, lovely!

  3. Wow congratulations! I recently found your blog and completely fell in love with it.. your style, friendly and warm attitude, and your natural beauty is really inspiring and refreshing. It's wonderful that you're going to start your own line, as I'm a minimalist myself when it comes to most things, so I can't wait to see the simple chic pieces you make! All I ask is that you keep us plus size ladies in mind.. :)

  5. i just started following you--wish i could remember from where, but i do believe it was over a luscious cucumber gin gimlet, so i'll blame the faulty memory on that--

my first glimpse was your "tethered to the sewing machine" post, and i immediately searched your blog for everything hand made i could find. so i'm thrilled you're jumping in with both tiny talented feet!

  15. Kudos!! So excited for you. There's an amazing clothes designer - ISabel Toledo - who has written a great book called "Roots of Style." I'm halfway through it and she has a passion for individualistic style and grace for women that I think you would enjoy. Can't wait to buy some of your clothing!!

  17. I always assumed that the pieces you created were exclusively for your own closet. I'm so happy to hear that you will one day design and sell pieces to us. I understand the need to "test" so I will wait patiently.

I know i am. so I wish you nothing but the best (not that you need it hahahha) I cant wait to start buying your lovely designs. :)

BTW I really wanna start making my own clothes too. How did you get started with sewing and designing? Did you go to a school for that or are you self taught? thanks
